Honestly, it was the greatest experience I’ve ever had going last year. A lot of the people who say they’re aren’t into the “whole burning man experience” usually haven’t gone themselves. Its much more than a bunch of hippies dancing in the desert… I mean it is, butttt its much much more. I learned a lot about myself there, who I am as a person and who I want to be. It was the one time where I felt I could feel free to express myself as an artist and a person. To have complete freedom to be who you are is something most people never get to experience, or at least in front of others. At burning man there’s no judgement, no racism, its a community of people from around the world sharing their thoughts, ideas and love. The only advice I could give on going is keep an open mind, don’t be shy, give more than you get, love all and bring plenty of water. Think of ideas/projects/goals that you yourself would like to contribute to BM or do while you’re there, wether it be photographs, art installations, etc. If you do these, you’ll have the most fun. Oh and the crazier the costume the better, it is the desert however so bring warm outfits for night and its always a good idea to bring a bike, the place is ridiculously huge. If you’re looking for a complete list of advice on things to bring, best to follow this site of specs http://www.burningman.com/first_timers/ …also follow the newsletter by Jack Rabbit Speaks, he gives out awesome up to date details about BM. Good luck, see you on the playa! :)
